I fished there once with no luck a couple years ago, and I remember going there once with my Grandpop as a kid.  It's a nice place to chill, especially with a family.  As for bait, I think I used worms when I was there last - I would suppose that just about anything, from worms to minnows to livers, stinkbaits and artificials would do.  I've been wanting to head back up there and would also be interested in hearing other's reports about the park...

I caught a carp there once, about 10 years ago.  I think I used cornmeal as bait.  I've been there a few times after that.  There are some nice size catfish in there.  Especially by the rocks.  I caught a catfish there about 5 years ago, it was about 30" long and fat.  Nice size fish out of the lake.  But most of the times, the place is pretty quiet.  I heard it was a good place for fishing many years ago, but now, it's pretty dead.

Like hutter said, it's a great place for a family picnic or just to relax, but fishing is not as good as it used to be.

I usually go there in the spring for trout, I can't imagine going there in the summer. The one side has shade but nobody seems to catch anything on that side. The other side has no shade but that is where the fish seem to be biting. ( go figure, uh... ) If you decide to go please post on how you did. I would be curios to know. I hope I'm wrong and good luck.

From the spots I've fished in Lake Luxembourg, there isn't alot of weed growth at all in water during the summer.  I've had a tough time coaxing bites from largemouths fishing from the shoreline.  I did find a spot where bluegills were hanging out right by the dam.  Too many small blue gills kinda gets old though.

I went to core crrek yesterday afternoon, parked at the "no parking" end of the pond.  Threw a few lines in and saw NOTHING!!   I saw some blue gills that were no bigger than an cell phone.  I preoceeded to walk around to the shaded side and had to throw out really far, kinda shallow at the shoreline. Does anyone know how deep that place is??  Seemed like a nice quiet, clean place.  I think as someone said before, good for a family.
